Sponsored Youth Programs

Our Sponsored Youth:

Our club is a co-sponsor of the LaVenture Middle School Builders Club and the Conway K Club.

The LaVenture Builders Club members met on November 22nd, 2004 and selected their officers. Additionally, they began to build an aggressive agenda that provides a focus on community service projects

The Builders Club currently has 20 members.  The faculty advisors include; Erin Duey, Darcy Resetar and Mike McManus.  Club member Ken McCulloch through his persistence and initiative was the key component that made this important community youth program a reality.

Builders Clubs are open to any middle school student who wants to join. Each club and school principal has the latitude to set conditions for membership, so it varies from club to club. Generally, any student who is interested in performing community service may join Builders Club.

The kids in the Builders Club have helped us with our fundraisers.

Most recently they have:

*  Helped sell tulips for our club
*  Worked at the Salmon BBQ fundraiser
*  Volunteered at the Humane Society
*  Collected food for the needy
*  Volunteered at the SPARK Daycare

Check back with us to see what other community service related projects that are being  performed by these wonderful middle school kids...

Builders Club FAQ

The Conway K Club originated in 2000 with the strong support of the school District and Conway School teacher Jan Kelly.  Jan also acts as the current faculty advisor.

The Conway K Club averages 20-25 students per year.

Some of their projects include:

*  Collecting Yoplait yogurt lids for cancer research

*  Clothing drives

*  Friendship Boxes for the Friendship House and
Oasis Teen Shelter.  These organizations benefit
   adult homeless individuals (Friendship House)
and housing for homeless teenagers (Oasis Teen
   Shelter).

*  Toy Drives for the Skagit Valley Herald Christmas
    Fund.

Club member Mary June Curtis was the catalyst that brought the schools and the Kiwanis Club of Skagit-Mount Vernon together.

This program is yet another positive example of youth and adults giving back to their community through community service...
